Scott Kesterson on groupthink: “The untruth stops being a claim at all. It becomes the room, literally, in which everyone lives in.”
WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS
Scott Kesterson opens a three-part series on how a false belief becomes accepted as truth. Part 1 covers the psychology of groups. Scott walks through research on repetition, conformity, silence, and groupthink, with examples from the political left and right. He ties it to Václav Havel’s greengrocer and to two films that open December 18, 2026, Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday. Parts 2 and 3 turn to the Declaration of Independence and the Second Amendment.
KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED
How does a false belief go from a claim to the room everyone lives in?
What do the studies on repetition, conformity, and silence show about groups?
Why does Scott say the Declaration of Independence comes before any court case on our rights?
