ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟମାନେ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ସର୍ପଦ୍ରଂଷ୍ଟରେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁମୁଖୀ ହେଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନେ ପତାକାରେ ଥିବା ସର୍ପକୁ ଅନାଇଲେ, ସେମାନେ ବଞ୍ଚିଲେ (ଗଣନାପୁସ୍ତକ 21:8)। ଏହା ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କର ପୂର୍ବଚିତ୍ର — ସେ କୃଶ ଉପରେ ଉତ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇ, ଆମର ଦୋଷ, ବନ୍ଧନ ଓ ରୋଗକୁ ଗ୍ରହଣ କଲେ। ଆମେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଅନାଇବାରେ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା, ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ଓ କୃପା ପାଉଛୁ। ଯେତେବେଳେ ଜୀବନ ଦଂଶନ କରେ, ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ ଓ ବଞ୍ଚନ୍ତୁ।
