This week we’re joined by a familiar face, sports dietitian, author and ultra-runner Renee McGregor, alongside filmmaker Ellie Green, director of the film Unfiltered.
The film gives us a deeper insight into Renee as a person, beyond the professional and expert we’ve come to know through her work. In this episode, we hear the story behind ‘Unfiltered’ from both sides of the camera — from how a friendship naturally grew into a year-long filmmaking project, to what it was like for Renee to see her story brought to life on screen.
We chat about vulnerability, trust, the importance of being truly heard and seen, and why having the right people around you can be such a powerful part of resilience. Renee also shares her thoughts on the changing running world, diversity in the outdoors, the pressure to constantly do more, and why there’s no rush when it comes to your own journey.
Ellie gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the responsibility of telling someone else’s story, particularly when that story involves difficult and deeply personal experiences.
An honest conversation about women, sport, identity, friendship, resilience and the stories we choose to tell.
