We Called It "Artificial." We Should Have Said the Aliens Were Coming.

AI didn't come — it arrived. And if we could rewind to the end of 2022 when ChatGPT launched, the right framing would have been: a very smart alien race lands in three or four years, prepare now. We didn't. We called it a next-word predictor and moved on.

In this episode I reframe the whole thing: why "artificial" undersells an intelligence that comprehends and solves problems no human can, what a lifetime of watching technology revolutions (party lines to cell phones) taught me about this one, and why the real questions aren't technical at all. Who gets the cure when disease gets solved? Where does the money go now that the first trillionaire is here? How does any of it help a regular person trying to support a family? And why is panic the thing the headlines are actually selling?
