AI systems are now improving themselves at scale. The strategic implications are bigger than most leadership teams are tracking.

Recursive self-improvement means an AI improves its own performance, keeps what works, and repeats the loop, often across many connected agents, with minimal human involvement per cycle. It is widely considered the inflection point for the field.

Three things every business owner should sit with:

First, the regulation everyone keeps predicting is not arriving, and the reason is competitive. The race dynamic, framed publicly as a six-to-nine-month gap with China, makes slowing down read as losing. Plan as if the brakes stay off.

Second, the public is not using the frontier. There is a consistent gap between what is released and what exists inside the labs. If you are building strategy around today's consumer models, you are planning against last year's capability.

Third, and this is the one I keep coming back to. In some studies, AI alone outperforms a human expert paired with AI. The variable that drags the combined result down is human bias. That should reshape how you think about where you keep a human in the loop and where you do not.
