Thus, this incident may serve as a reminder of the fragility of human life and the need for water to survive; however, one should not conclude that the individual’s death implies a lack of the "water of life." The Bible offers no such judgement regarding the fate of those who lose their lives in accidents. Jesus’ message is that, just as water is essential for physical life, He presents Himself as the source of spiritual life for all who come to Him. That young Afghan man perished from physical thirst on the plains of Nimroz—a need that cannot be met without water. Jesus Christ speaks of spiritual thirst—a deeper need that is satisfied through faith in Him and a relationship with God.
