This week, I speak with Brenda Covert, who is a children’s author and an editor for books ranging from picture books to MG, YA, and adult fiction and non-fiction. Her debut picture book, Meanwhile Back at the Manger, came out in November 2025 and shares the joy of Jesus’ birth through a creative retelling. Brenda has written more than 400 short stories for children, along with poems, scripts, and other creative works that have appeared in school and church resource materials. In 2025, Brenda became a co-host of The Write2Ignite Podcast, introducing listeners to authors of children's books and others in the publishing world. When she’s not writing or editing, you might find Brenda reading aloud to children, planning holiday crafts, or enjoying a cup of cocoa any time of the year—because Christmas joy is great year-round!
