Never Accept Injustice As The Norm
Most of the scriptures included in the Bible were produced by an oppressed people.
First by the Egyptians, then the Assyrians, then the Persians, then the Greeks, then the Romans. Even when they had their own kingdoms, their rulers often failed to render justice.
Many of Scriptures left behind are our reminder to never accept social and economic injustice as the norm. Consider these words from Amos 8:
“Hear this, you who trample on the needy, and bring to ruin the poor of the land,
…
buying the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and selling the sweepings of the wheat."
The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.”
And we mustn’t either.
