Send us Fan Mail

In 1984, Deep Purple’s classic Mark II lineup reunited for the first time in nearly a decade and delivered one of rock’s most successful comeback albums. On this episode, we revisit Perfect Strangers, digging into the songs, the performances, and the chemistry between Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Jon Lord, Roger Glover, and Ian Paice. From “Knocking at Your Back Door” to the unforgettable title track, we look at what made the album work, how it fit into the hard rock landscape of the ’80s, and whether Perfect Strangers still stands as one of rock’s great reunion records.
