Interview | Dick and Sabrina by Joe Saward | 200 | What Actually Makes Someone Worth Trusting About Formula 1?

For nearly a year, Joe Saward has been the one answering the questions on this show. In this episode, the format flips.

Joe has covered close to seven hundred Formula 1 races over almost four decades, independent of any team or media company. Dick and Sabrina have a fraction of that experience between them. So Joe used this conversation to ask them directly why that gap matters less than people assume.

In this episode, Joe turns his credibility around and spends the whole conversation asking Dick and Sabrina to justify theirs. What he actually wanted to know, and what he thought of the answer, is not something either of them saw coming.

Sabrina traces her path in from a legal, political, and business background, and from being exactly the kind of newer fan this show was built to speak to. Dick goes back to being a nine-year-old watching a jet-powered car at the 1967 Indy 500, and a Formula Ford career that ended when his talent and his money ran out at the same time.

Somewhere in the middle of both stories, the conversation turns to something none of them planned to spend this much time on: what actually separates a source worth trusting from the flood of Formula 1 content that just makes things up for clicks. Joe has a four decade answer. Dick and Sabrina are still building theirs, in real time, on this show.

If you've ever wondered how this particular trio ended up in your feed, or what gives any of them the standing to talk about this sport, this is the conversation that answers it on their own terms.
