Nesta Pearce remembers the age of steam in this podcast and laments the loss of the railway. There is sadness that the sweeping span of the stone railway viaduct, such a lovely feature in the landscape seen from the Trellech road, has been left to crumble. The viaduct, and the iron bridge across the Wye, are the most visible reminders of Monmouth's railway heritage. Troy Station was dismantled and re-erected at Winchcombe on the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway in the 1980s. This area is now called Troy Gardens and is covered in houses.
